POEM:
theres a million ways to grow up
in a slum or by the shore
the richest of the rich
or the poorest of the poor
i have no regrets of childhood
i worked and i played free
i wish to follow in the footsteps
of how my parents raised me
you can ask me what i’d change
but don’t even bother
i’d turn down any rolex dad
for my chilean father
i’m telling this story
not meaning to be a bummer
but i only ate at benny hannas
because my dad was their plumber.
when my parents got divorced
i made friends with a psychologist
i saw my grand dad on the weekends
he was a wealthy gynecologist.
i got a little taste of money
every other week
i got a rabbit for my b-day
which i found out chileans eat.
i came home one day from school
and my bunny had straight up vanished
i found out 10 years later
my dad had put rambo in his sandwich.
theres a million ways to grow up
in a slum or by the shore
the richest of the rich
or the poorest of the poor
you can ask me what i’d change
but don’t even bother
i’d turn down any rolex dad
for my chilean father
