A few weeks back I took a quick trip with some friends out to Mt. San Jacinto State Park. It is located in the city of Palm Springs, about 30 miles from Joshua Tree National Forest. In order to get to the 14,000 acres of wilderness area, you must take the aerial tramway. It is a 10 minute ride to a 8,516 foot elevation. Along the way there is much desert and alpine wilderness to encounter.
At the top of the mountain there are 54 miles of hiking trails and many campgrounds. There are huge boulders everywhere, making it possible for climbing, etc…
The Meadows are quite amazing and green.
I am hoping to take a trip back during the Winter. Even though Palm Springs is located in the desert, the 8,516 ft. elevation makes the weather feel great.
Nice excursion.
