San Sebastián Food

It’s hard to know what the restaurant scene is like because being a Michelin star restaurant means that you don’t actually get to eat a meal for less than 125€. And this city has the highest concentration of Michelin star restaurants in the world.
I will probably try to eat at 1-2 places before I leave. Until then, the produce and pintxos scene is pretty dank.

I have been trying to figure out how to incorporate all my interests into a single narrative. I think that’s another reason why I have returned to lovebryan. In recent years- pizzapotatochips.tumblr.com and my personal blogger site functioned as repositories for specialized information.
It is my hope that I may synthesize my experiences and draw some meaning out of the depth and breadth of my privileged life.
Yesterday was my first post in 5 years.
For now, I will stick to my European Decompression trip but hopefully find time to review that half decade and make some sense of it.

Hello Old Friend

It’s been a long time old boto phlog.

I have decided to resurrect you as I have finished graduate school, lived in upstate New York, moved back to California, and finished my first year of teaching Design Build to 8th graders in a public charter school in Berkeley.

I have been working occasionally for a talented chef, Leif Hedendal, who I met because of Nicole Lo Bue, another super talented Chef I worked for in Hudson, NY. They taught me the magic of the Galette. Nathan’s neighbors dropped off several flats of peaches that needed to be consumed immediately. It was my birthday on June 14 so I made a Galette with peaches, thyme, a few cherries and blueberries. The right upper hand is the sideboob of a key lime pie brought by Jesse and Kara – the coolest people ever.

San Juan is the Spanish Solstice celebration. Basically it’s mayhem in the streets, kids are running around burning books from the school year because they just got out for a vacation a few days earlier. WTF.

It’s been hard to take photos the last few days because I’ve just been sitting reading, eating and surfing.

Life is not terrible. My mantra earlier this year was “Life is suffering.” I’m not sure which one I believe.
