It started out as a New York Times assignment to shoot a story about the rebirth of the American textile industry as more and more clothing companies are finding that it makes more sense to move production back to the US. See that story here. That resulted in a two day dream job from American Giant, a San Francisco based clothing company that was featured in the NYT article. They asked me to document the workers that were harvesting the cotton, the gin that separates the seeds and unwanted bits, and the factories that make and cut the cloths for their clothing all over the Piedmont region of North Carolina. It was probably my favorite job ever and I want to continue documenting the changing face of American textiles. The story went on to feature in Fortune (US, China and Korea issues) and lots of other places online.
