Every party has a beginning, and ending, and something in between. A few weeks ago, I received an invitation to attend a friends surprise birthday party. Needless to say, I did what I could to make this happen. I was looking forward to seeing good friends and having a fun night out for once. I recently purchased a new camera….yet another reason to get out and document the fun times!

I was recently at my Mom’s place over Christmas. She always has tons of Xmas decorations around the house, etc. I found this old santa doll that was taken from my grandfathers place this year. Its a creepy one, and deserves some attention. They don’t make them like this anymore.

North Carolina living….its sure hard to beat!

Many people enjoy the fair for the food and the rides. I don’t care about eating a chocolate covered banana or a deep fried snickers bar. I like the people watching and the lights. If you want to throw down 30 bucks on food and 30 bucks on rides, you’ve found the right place. This year, I posted up and shot photos instead of participating in throwing my money away.

Its pretty few and far between when you come across a working letterpress. My buddy Rich was kind enough to show me the ropes. I never realized how endless the options were when working on a letterpress. It is quite a unique and personal experience. If you have ever been interested in any type of printing and have never been to a letterpress, I suggest you find one.

This year Halloween fell on a weekend….party! So many good costumes this year too. Boooooyaw.

Made In The USA

Made in the USA is an art exhibition that was held in Raleigh, NC for two weeks in October. Artists from all over submitted work for the exhibit. All of the pieces were multi-media pieces exploring what it means to be “Made” in the postindustrial USA. An old warehouse downtown was opened up for the event. In the midst of all of this, there was even a live music performance that took place the opening night. I was fortunate enough to check it out.

Different T-shirt tags were used to assemble the states. Pretty unique idea I thought. From Brooks Brothers to Fruit of the Loom.

These paintings were properly placed in a cage setting outdoors.

Someone has a love for hats…

Some were creating music, while others observed.

A nice cardboard structure of sorts.

Julia Gartrell had a beautiful installation. This was my personal favorite from the show.

The newer technology found in digital cameras is amazing. Â However, a lot of time and thought can go into one photo. Â I recently went on a trip out West and brought along a few cameras. Â I still enjoy the good ol’ point and shoot film cameras. Â Here are a few black and white photos recently shot in California. Â

Chinatown is definitely one of my favorite areas to explore in SF. Â Always loads of photo opportunities.
