So Long, Winter

In the depths of winter, I forced my friends out into the cold to model outwear for a fashion shoot. The wonderful folks at Huck Magazine in the UK entrusted me to make a series of photos about braving the New York winter. The issue is available now and features this fashion story. Here are some photos and outtakes from a snowfall, barrel burn and polar bear plunge.

We Are So Smooth Now

For the last two months, I lived with Chris Chu, the frontman for The Morning Benders. I’ve known these guys for years, but these past few weeks were especially exciting culminating with the release of their newest record Big Echo on Rough Trade Records. I always enjoy seeing my friends come up and I’m proud of them for making something so good.

Phagwah

Phagwah is the Guyanese and Trinidadian version of the Hindu festival Holi that takes place deep in Queens. It’s a celebration of spring that involves dousing one another in colored powders. I missed the initial chaos but caught some beautiful aftermath.

Incubation

jayshirtlesssm

Gladys is nine months pregnant. This will be Jay’s fifth child but first with Gladys. They want to name him Jaydys — a combination of their names.

I wish I could share more. But like Jaydys, all my recent photos are in the incubation process. There’s a lot of work in progress.
