since u been gone

I did manage to take some photos will my other camera was out for repairs. These is them.

They call Hallie Chinese Finger Trap…because she likes to play with Chinese Finger Traps, perv!

Brent can’t deny a good sweater when he sees one.

Sandyland and Smalls. Mis favoritos.

Centipede.

The bathroom at Tu Lan isn’t as bad as you’d think. It’s actually a pretty positive experience.

The water, however, is questionable. I got stuck with the brown one.

Kyle CamCam left his battery on the charger. No photos for you.

This was New Zealander Dave Chami‘s first real burrito.

And Alex Klein’s first real cigarette.

Judd gives it up for Jesse at the last Smiths night in SF. (Do you wish you had your own website yet?)

I totally missed a tender moment.

Massan and Alex Klein and Alex Klein’s jacked finger. This was just after the premier of The City video featuring young Alex shredding in various polo shirts.

Taxi Driver.

The Exorcist.

Curtain call.

Hot Tub Party!!!

Another Wednesday night at Pop’s.

Renee and Jake Baker put on a spur of the moment BBQ. It felt like the last day of summer…in January? Totally ruled.

Essential Capri Sun Cooler.

We cooked hotdog dogs.

Chilidog.

Homerun derby. Suzette was three for ten. Not bad.

Derek was looking for a mean game of kickball.

Suzette Lee, age eight.

Dear Darling,
It is cold here and each morning I kneel in the snow to pray that I will be home soon. I press my hands together but my fingers will not align. My trigger finger cannot lay still and I fear that my prayers will not be answered. This is the lousiest place in the world and I have never felt so lonely. I miss you like you will never know, like I never knew when I left. Now I laugh at all the dreams we held between us before I left. It is like trying to grasp these snowflakes. Two months turned into three years. Your beloved has turned into a monster. I hope you can look me in the eye if we are ever blessed with such an opportunity again.

Forever yours,
AK

all along the watchtower

So Renee still had her rental car from the weekend. We decided to make use of it and go to the Marin Headlands. That’s the Golden Gate. Renee took this photo as well as all the photos with purple captions.

We played around in the bunkers.

Derek gets all jaguar.

Suzette was coming up with all kinds of good photo ideas.

This is Renee; she’s still alive.

It was just dark enough that one could walk right off this edge and plummet at Derek’s feet.

Me and Jake Baker walked to the top of the hill to get the good views.

The others found us.

And we found a radio tower. Hard to miss. We hopped the barbwire found a ladder at the base. And so we started climbing. That’s Jake in the red. It was a spooky climb but totally worth it. Suzette made this photo. She makes good photos all the time and they sometimes appear on her website, SmallMediumLee.

Paul and I were discussing the ethereal aspects of life when Jake made it up.

There was a camera on the ground.

This is what the satellites looks at all day.

There’s something comforting and peaceful about being so far above life’s problems.

Paul.

Derek on his way up.

Jake left a chicken for future generations.

That’s the tippy top. We climbed the ladder to it, but there was a trap door. We settled with kicking it at three-quarters.

Posse up.

Next time we’re bringing sleeping bags.

And telling ghost stories.

I love this crew.

Stagger, friends.

nye

We started off NYE at a sports bar in Upper Haight. The Hoopers were conscripted to DJ so all the homies went and took over the back room. This is before it got crowded.

What’s NYE without some Bombers? Bob got a really sharp haircut.

AK with the two-step.

The DJing was pretty sporadic. I heard some Danzig, Eamon, the Verve and hella hyphy. Hans is probably clicking to some Fine Young Cannibals right now.

So we were just standing outside getting some fresh (or not so fresh) air, and…

This older gentleman, maybe a Jedi incongnito, maybe a computer technician, comes up with a couple legit-looking lightsabers.

Hannah wants to avenge the death of her aunt and uncle.

And battling ensues.

And sabers cross.

What planet is this guy from?

Back inside AK says mean things to Sarah.

What a cute couple!

Ditto.

It’s almost go time and Julian and I are DJing. The dancefloor loves it.

LIVE? Maybe three hours ago. This year’s gonna be like a rock.

Happy New Year!

Hmmmm….

Chloe did a lot of smooching, that trollop. Look at her bedroom eyes.

AK plans on ruling 2007.

This photo honestly made my night. Everything about it. The tattoo on Jordan’s arm, the necklaces, the snap, the faces, the multi-colored “New Year.” I hope every moment of 2007 is just like this one.

Then we went to a house party. It had this view.

And we found this dapper lad.

Five more failed parties later, bouncing around like a pinball, we find these girls butt-boarding down Central.

It’ll be a fine year; I’m sure of it.

2006 was like…

I literally took 10,000 photos this year. Here’s a slideshow of the ones that resonate best with what an amazing year 2006 was. From start to finish. Give it a couple minutes to load; it was a long year.
